Walgreens has paid nearly $30,000 to settle claims that it scanned inaccurate prices and didn't post refund notices at its Wisconsin stores.
The state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) says it found 121 inaccurately priced products at 51 Walgreens stores on the first visit during a two-day inspection last August. One store in La Crosse and one in Superior failed to correct the prices after inspectors ordered them to, the department said.
DATCP Weights & MEasures inspectors ordered the inaccurate prices found on the first day of inspection to be corrected. They returned the next day to make sure the corrections were made. DATCP found the corrections were not made at the Walgreens on 900
The Walgreens in La Croses that on 900 West Avenue South in La Crosse did not make the requested corrections.
The department inspectors also reported 11 stores didn't post required signs to inform customers they were entitled to a refund if they weren't charged the lowest advertised price.
The Deerfield, Illinois based grocery and drug company didn't admit breaking any law.
Ag department spokesman Jerad Albracht says Walgreens paid to settle similar violations in 2009.
