Hungry families in our community will have some extra meat on the table the month of April.
The Wafer Food Pantry received enough donations that families will be able to take home double the amount of meat they're usually able to.
The food came from the Emergency Food Assistance Program, Sam's Club, Wal-Mart and Target.
Wafer's executive director Erin Waldhart said the larger supply will be a big help to those in need.
"Purchasing meat in the store is a costly item for all of us, but when you're on a fixed income and food is one of those items that is so costly for a family to purchase, having access to additional meat during the month might allow our clients to extend their food dollars just a little bit further," said Waldhart.
The donation was so large, it couldn't all be stored at the Wafer Food Pantry.
That's why Kwik Trip is storing some of the supply to make sure it doesn't go bad before people can eat it.
