MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Polls are open in Wisconsin's primary. And for the first time, voters must show photo identification in order to cast a ballot.

Poll workers have the added task of checking IDs, which can include a Wisconsin driver's license, a U.S. passport, military identification and state-issued photo ID card. Tuesday's contests are mainly low-profile with local, judicial and school district nonpartisan races. About 522 municipalities will hold elections.

Voters who don't bring photo identification may cast a provisional ballot and then bring their ID to their local clerk's office by 4 p.m. Friday. In addition to showing an ID, voters will also have to state their name and address and sign the poll book.
