People participating in an ice fishing tournament are hoping to not only catch the largest fish, but also a cure.
The Catch-A-Cure ice fishing tournament is raised money for lung cancer research on Saturday.
It was organized by a group of UW-La Crosse students.
It cost $5 for kids and $10 for adults to take part in the competition on lake Onalaska.
Participants had until noon to try and pull in the biggest fish they could for the chance at a cash prize.
The students organizing the event said it's about more than just a day out on the lake.
"We're hoping to spread more education about lung cancer in general and let people know that it's not just from smoking, it's a wide variety of causes. We're just hoping to get the word out,"said event coordinator Kayla Szydel.
The students said they have been working on the event since September.
This is the fourth Catch-A-Cure tournament.
