LA CROSSE, Wis. -

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse helped residents get rid of that old TV or computer that's just sitting around the house.

Information Technology Service held their second annual Electronic Waste Collection Monday afternoon.

University staff, students, even the public could drop off old electronics including CD players, VCR's and printers.

The drop off helps keep potentially dangerous materials out of landfills.

"It allows us to be very earth friendly by having it all shredded, melted down, metal separated, plastics shredded and sent off to other companies and recycled," said Dave Faulkner, UW-L Information.
