A judge has ordered a survey of jurors to determine whether pretrial publicity has made them too biased to decide the drug and assault charges against the father of one of two missing Iowa cousins.
Judge Margaret Lingreen says residents who report for jury duty in other cases but are dismissed should be asked about Daniel Morrissey, who has asked for a change of venue. Lingreen says the results will determine whether Morrissey can receive a fair trial in Black Hawk County.
Morrissey is the father of 10-year-old Lyric Cook, who disappeared with her 9-year-old cousin, Elizabeth Collins, while riding bikes in Evansdale on July 13.
Morrissey has come under scrutiny because of his criminal history. He backed out of a plea bargain the day before the girls' disappearance.
