State settles with Juneau County trailer park owners over dirty water
MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin Department of Justice has settled with the former owners of a Juneau County mobile home park over dirty drinking water in their facilities.
A civil complaint accused Clifford Bader, Sr., Clifford Bader, Jr., Debbie Litty and the Virginia Bader Revocable Trust of failing to notify residents there were unsafe levels of bacteria and nitrates in the water supply at the Bader's Villa Estates and Green Acres Mobile Home Parks.
The owners were accused of not notifying residents of the unsafe water and not providing bottled water to residents, as required by law.
Prosecutors say the violations continued for several years while the owners said they would connect to the New Lisbon public water supply and drill a new well for Green Acres.
New ownership took over the mobile home parks, and connected them to city water. The Green Acres well is set to be replaced this year.
As part of the settlement, the Baders will pay $40,000 in court costs and $15,000 to the state for investigation and prosecution costs.
