A La Crescent teacher is being charged in Houston County for allegedly molesting several students.

Jason Barker, 37, faces six counts of criminal sexual conduct, including criminal sexual conduct in 2nd degree-severity level D and criminal sexual conduct-5th degree-gross misdemeanor.

Criminal complaints state three girls at La Crescent Montessori Academy told police Barker,a special education teacher, touched them inappropriately on several occasions.

The girls said the inapproriate touching happened in Barker's school office. One of the girls said it also happened in the school lunchroom.

Five students at the school confronted Barker earlier this month at which point the school became aware and called police.

According to the complaint, Barker admitted to hugging students and having them sit on his lap.

During an interview with La Crescent police at Barker's home on January, he denied touching students inappropriately. The complaint states at one point Barker asked if he was going to be arrested. The questioning stopped and Barker was arrested and transported to the Houston County Jail.
