SPARTA, Wis. -

An early morning police pursuit in Sparta ended with drug arrests on Sunday.

Investigators say a vehicle failed to stop for a driving infraction and led officers on a pursuit reaching speeds in excess of 60 miles-per-hour.

The vehicle eventually stopped around 3:30 a.m. on the 500 block of West Wisconsin Street. The driver and two of three passengers ran from the vehicle, according to a Sparta Police Department news release.

Officers were able to apprehend the driver, 33-year-old Travis Wehmanen, after a short foot pursuit. Police say Wehmanen was in possession of methamphetamine and heroin. He also had several warrants out for his arrest. He is currently being held in the Monroe County Jail awaiting possible charges.

Police also arrested 38-year-old Wanda Kessen, who did not flee the vehicle. She is facing possible charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Two of the passengers who fled the vehicle were able to elude police officers.

22-year-old Mirika Stuhr is still on the loose. Police say Stuhr is facing possible charges of possessing prescription medication without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A third passenger has not been apprehended either. Their identity is unknown at this time.
