A 35-year-old man is accused of abusing his elderly father in their Onalaska home.
Brian Hoff was charged in La Crosse County Court on Thursday with several counts of aggravated battery-elderly person, domestic abuse, and bail jumping.
According to the criminal complaint, Brian Hoff had been arguing with his 72-year-old father and punched him in the face and the arm multiple times more than a week ago and had also threatened to stab him.
On March 13, Hoff’s father went to the Onalaska Police Department and told an officer he was having trouble with his son. Police say the father told them that they were arguing over his son’s loud singing and that his son wanted his father to tell him that he is a good singer. His son thought he was going to call police, so he unplugged the telephone and took it away from his father so he couldn’t call for help, according to the complaint.
The father told police that on Monday, March 4, his son began to yell and argue with him and his son got so angry he punched him in the face. The complaint states Hoff threatened to stab his father.
Police arrested Brian Hoff at his Onalaska house on Tuesday, March 13. The complaint states he told officers that his father needs him and that he would not be able to live on his own. Police say Hoff also told them had no idea what it was like living with his father.
Hoff has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery-elderly person, domestic abuse; three counts of misdemeanor bail jumping-no contact; misdemeanor intimidation of a victim, domestic abuse; and disorderly conduct, domestic abuse.
Hoff is being held in La Crosse County jail on a $1,000 cash bond.
