Small plane crashes in eastern Iowa, 1 dead
Authorities say one person died and another person was injured when a small plane crashed in eastern Iowa.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Elizabeth Cory said the single-engine plane crashed in a field near Clutier on Wednesday morning. Clutier is roughly 90 miles northeast of Des Moines.
Cory says the person killed in the crash will be identified by local officials. Local police and fire officials did not immediately respond to messages from The Associated Press.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
FAA records show the plane was registered to William A. Konicek of Traer, Iowa, in October. It wasn't immediately clear whether Konicek was aboard the plane when it crashed, and a man who answered the phone at his home declined to comment.
