ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The spokesman for Senate Republicans is admitting a mistake for taxpayer-funded brochures distributed on behalf of senators at recent precinct caucuses that included a link to a political fundraising page.

Communications director Steve Sviggum says he stands by the content of the materials but it was wrong for them to refer people to a donation Website. The brochures prompted a complaint Tuesday by the state Democratic Party against the Senate GOP caucus and a dozen Republican senators.

Democrats asked an administrative hearing board to declare the senators in violation of campaign laws and impose penalties.

Sviggum says the Senate GOP campaign committee will reimburse the state $47 for printing costs. He says fault lies with him.

Democratic chairman Ken Martin wants the hearing board to punish all senators involved.
