Sen. Baldwin tours Gundersen Lutheran Critical Care Center
Senator Tammy Baldwin toured a second construction site on the Gundersen Lutheran campus.
Work on the exterior of the Critical Care Center is wrapping up and now focus is being placed on the interior of the building.
Roughly 300-350 people are working on site each day on everything from picking furniture to the placement of the coffee pots. The director of construction says these types of building projects are about more than just the bricks and mortar.
"We use these projects to transform care; to eliminate the barriers that our facilities currently have whether it's implementing technology we know will assist in the work flow; to improve safety or quality, or whether there's innovations in design that will allow us to capture efficiencies that our existing facilities won't allow us to capture," said Kari House, Gundersen Lutheran’s director of construction.
The project is on schedule. Gundersen Lutheran hopes to admit their first patients in January or February of 2014.
