School District report cards in Wisconsin are out.
and one La Crosse County district 'meets few expectations.'
The new report cards were issued by the Wisconsin
Department of Public Instruction after changes were
made to how schools were graded as a result of the
2015-17 state budget.
The La Crosse School District, as a whole, was given
*two* out of five stars.
just barely missing a *three* star ranking.
The district says while they will be able to learn
and grow from the new report cards.
it is important for the public to know the majority
of the score is based on one standardized test.
So this summary score doesn't reflect the individual
learning that's going on for a particular student.
The resiliance that we build within them, the supports
that the community and schools provide aren't reflected
in those test scores and we're quite proud of that."
In next Tuesday's Assignment: Education report at
I will take a deeper look at the changes made to the
and how those changes are impacting some schools with
high poverty rates.
