Rep. Kind votes to freeze Congress' pay
WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Lawmakers in Washington voted Friday to freeze salaries for congress and all federal employees.
The bill, introduced by Wisconsin Republican Representative Sean Duffy, would extend a current two-year freeze through 2013. The bill cancels a scheduled cost of living increase.
Wisconsin Democratic Congressman Ron Kind voted in favor of the bill. He calls it a no-brainer at a time when americans are still struggling to make ends meet.
"A lot of people are in that same category, they haven't seen wages go up, in fact real wages for working families over the last 20 years have been at best stagnant and for many of them, declining," says Congressman Kind.
The bill now moves on to the senate where there is currently no vote scheduled.
