TREMPEALEAU CO., Wis.-- An invasive species causes Trempealeau County to become Wisconsin's 15th county to be quarantined.
The Emerald Ash Borer was discovered at Perrot State Park recently. The quarantine officially went into effect Friday.
The EAB quarantine helps to limit the spread of of the insect by restricting movement of items related to ash trees such as mulch or firewood.
Since 2008, EAB has been confirmed in 13 Wisconsin counties. Two additional counties are under quarantine because of their proximity to known infestations.
Crawford, La Crosse and Vernon counties are also on that list.
