The Onalaska community has a chance to come together this Thanksgiving.
Preparations for the second annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner are underway. The free dinner includes all the favorites: turkey, stuffing, cranberries, and potatoes. There will also be a kids area and TV's to watch football.
The event, which is funded through donations and volunteers, fed 700 people last year and they are expecting more than a thousand this year. "You get people from all neighborhoods, from all different backgrounds, we had those that actually really needed a meal joining with military families that had people deploying overseas, just joining with other people who wanted to celebrate Thanksgiving with their friends and neighbors," said Tom Brewer from the Onalaska Enhancement Foundation.
The event is free for everyone. It's being held at the Onalaska Armory from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There is also a meal delivery if you can't leave your home.
For more information about the meal or if you would like to volunteer, you can call 797-0094 or go to octd.org.
