Police dog's death shakes the other Des Moines
Police in Des Moines, Wash., have solved the mystery of the irate emails: a case of mistaken identity.
The emails mentioned the death of Harley, a dog used in drug investigations. He had been found dead by his human partner in a police vehicle on Aug. 29.
The Washington department's chief, George Delgado, told The Des Moines (Iowa) Register that he figured out that the email senders had heard or seen stories about the dog but didn't know or notice that the stories came from the Iowa city. Delgado says his department also has a police dog named Harley.
The West Coast city of Des Moines is situated between Seattle and Tacoma, on the eastern shore of Puget Sound.
The Iowa city's department is still investigating the dog's death.
