MITCHELLVILLE, Iowa (AP) -

The driver of a pickup that rammed the back of a loaded school bus in central Iowa is blaming the truck's brakes.

Authorities say the accident occurred at a railroad crossing in Mitchellville on Monday afternoon. No injuries have been reported.

The Southeast Polk Community School District bus was carrying 53 students and had stopped at the crossing, as required by law.

The Des Moines Register reports that the pickup driver, Justin Brant, of Mitchellville, said his brakes didn't work right so he couldn't stop before hitting the bus.

Mitchellville police say Brant was cited for failure to maintain control.
