DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- A great horn owl injured during a storm that hit the Des Moines area is expected to make a full recovery.
KCCI-TV says the owl suffered a broken wing during Wednesday's storm that blew through with heavy rain and 70 mph winds.
The owl has lived in a tree near a retirement home in Norwalk for about nine years.
It was rescued by a city public works employee, who took the owl to a veterinarian who specializes in raptor rehabilitation. Once it mends, the owl will be returned to its home.
