A murder trial has been scheduled in July for a 41-year-old Ottumwa man who has been found competent for prosecution.
Bobby Snow is charged with second-degree murder in the death of James McElroy in May 2011. Authorities say Snow beat McElroy on the same night Snow used his car to run over a woman. McElroy later died at a hospital. The woman survived.
The Ottumwa Courier reports that Snow's lawyers argued that he wasn't mentally competent for trial. At a Jan. 23 hearing Snow was ruled competent.
His trial is scheduled to begin July 16.
