The Onalaska Police and Fire Departments are teaming up to make sure local kids have a better Christmas. It's part of their Santa's List program.
The departments collected toys for families who need a little help this year. The toys are then handed out at the Santa's List luncheon where the families are also treated to a holiday meal.
28 families and 75 children benefited this year. "It's obviously an unfortunate thing for our community that we do have that many families that need the help, but it's also great to know that we have so many giving people in our community that have been donating their time, their money, their gifts to this program," said Onalaska D.A.R.E. Officer Leah Myers.
The program is actually year-round. The police and fire departments help families who are affected by things like accidents and fires.
