Officials: Nearly 60,000 deer harvested in Iowa
Nearly 60,000 deer in Iowa have been harvested so far this year.
Des Moines television station KCCI reports the state Department of Natural Resources said Tuesday that the count for the end of the first shotgun season is on par with last year. The agency says five hunters were injured during this shotgun season.
About 65,000 hunters are expected to participate in the state's second shotgun season, which begins Saturday and concludes in mid-December.
