No one injured in Town of Campbell bus crash

TOWN of CAMPBELL, Wis. -

Town of Campbell police say no one was injured when a school bus driver missed a turn and his bus fell down an embankment, hitting a tree close to the Mississippi River Thursday morning.

Campbell Police Chief Tim Kelemen says there were no children on board during the crash that happened at about 10:20 a.m. at the intersection of Goddard Street and Lakeshore Drive. The 78-year-old driver was on his way to Summit Elementary School on French Island to pick up preschoolers.

Chief Kelemen said although the driver was not injured, he was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

A heavy tow truck removed the bus from the scene just before noon.
