No hearing yet for Field of Dreams
DYERSVILLE, Iowa (AP) -- The Dyersville City Council has delayed action on setting a public hearing to consider the city's annexation of property for the Field of Dreams movie site.
The Telegraph Herald in Dubuque says the council tabled the resolution on Monday.
Several property owners have volunteered portions of their property to be annexed.
City Clerk Tricia Maiers says the annexed property could be used to help the site access Dyersville's water and sewer systems.
An Illinois couple has announced plans to buy the farmhouse and baseball field featured in the 1989 film, along with the surrounding land, to build the "All-Star Ballpark Heaven." The complex would include 24 baseball and softball diamonds.
Gov. Terry Branstad signed into law a tax break for the project last month.
