New fire truck arrives in Holmen
A new fire truck was delivered to the Holmen Fire Department at the end of last week.
It's replacing a smaller one that's about 35 years old.
The new one will be fully equipped with new gear and can carry six firefighters. It cost about $500,000.
The department serves an 84 square miles area, including Holmen and the Towns of Onalaska and Holland.
The chief says the firefighters have been eagerly awaiting the new truck's arrival.
"They're extremely excited, when we first backed it in and closed the garage door at the station, they were like ants in a sugar bowl," said Holmen Fire Chief Douglas Schober. "They wanted to get all around and inside of it and see what the workings were."
The chief hopes to have the truck up and running by the middle of April.
