LA CROSSE, Wis. -

It was day two Tuesday in the trial of a man charged with strangling a La Crosse mother to death.

Prosecutors called expert witnesses to the stand to try to prove Izelia Golatt strangled Kristen Rodgers to death last March.

Golatt was seen on surveillance video with Rodgers the night she died, but the defense is arguing she died of a drug overdose.

The prosecution put the medical examiner on the stand Tuesday and asked him about the cause of death. "After conducting the autopsy and receiving the toxicology report, did you form an opinion to a reasonable degree of medical certainty as to the cause of death of Kristen Rogers?," asked D.A. Tim Gruenke. "I did. To a reasonable degree of medical certainty, I believe that Kristen Rodgers was manually strangled and this resulted in her death," said Dane Co. Medical Examiner Dr. Vincent Trancheda.

Golatt faces life in prison if convicted.
