A man charged with killing his landlord after an argument over food has been sentenced to 20 years in jail and 15 years of extended supervision.
Edgar Salinas-Leal, 25, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of second-degree intentional homicide, among other charges, in the Feb. 3 death of Darrell Ballweg.
A criminal complaint states Ballweg and his wife were eating in the townhouse they shared with the defendant and his family. After Salinas-Leal's wife asked the Ballwegs to share their food, they refused and Salinas-Leal and Darrell Ballweg began to fight.
Authorities said Salinas-Leal left, returned with a gun and shot Darrell Ballweg in the chest.
