LA CROSSE, Wis. -

A dog that got loose from its owner's house attacked a woman in downtown La Crosse on Thursday morning, according to a police report.

La Crosse police say the woman was not bitten, but she was transported to Gundersen Lutheran, where it was determined that she did not have any open wounds.

The dog got out of a house on the 100 block of 7th Street and ran about one block away, to 6th Street, where the woman was walking her dog around 9:30 a.m.

The owner of the dog, Paul Vang, 27, told police it got out because his house door was blown open by the wind. Police wrote Vang a ticket.

The Coulee Region Humane Society arrived on scene and will follow up with the licensing and vaccination of the dog, police said.
