LA CROSSE, Wis. -

Habitat for Humanity-La Crosse Area has named Amanda Acklin as its new executive director.

Acklin has spent the last two years working with CouleeCap, a local organization working to fight poverty.

Habitat for Humanity's Board of Directors says Acklin supervised the Neighborhood Empowerment and Revitalization (NEAR) Program in La Crosse. Acklin also served as the Coulee Community Land Trust Operations Coordinator.

"In addition to bringing a wealth of talents and valuable experience to Habitat for Humanity, the  board views  this as an opportunity to guide the affiliate in several new directions in the coming years, including the expansion of  the Critical Home Repair Program," Habitat for Humanity's Board of Directors said in a statement.
