MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Leftover permits for the state's spring turkey hunts are now on sale.

The state Department of Natural Resources says it made 225,729 permits available this year. More than 145,500 permits were awarded through a lottery, leaving about 80,000 up for grabs.

The DNR says permits for zone two will begin on Tuesday. Zone three will go on sale on Wednesday. Zone four will go on sale on Thursday. Zones five and six will go on sale on Friday. Zone one went on sale Monday.

Sales start at 10 a.m. each day and continue until permits are sold out or until midnight, whichever comes first. The DNR plans to allow hunters to purchase permits for any zone beginning on Saturday if any are left.
