Three area schools are rallying behind a young boy
with a rare form of cancer.
Drew Coleman is a 6th grader at Lincoln Middle School
in La Crosse.
He was recently diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma .
a rare form of bone cancer.
He'll soon undergo 14 rounds of chemotherapy and surgery
to remove the affected bone.
To help pay for his treatments .
the volleyball teams from Central .
and Aquinas High Schools held a 'Diggin for Drew'
which raised more than 34-hundred dollars.
The check was presented to Drew and his family before
tonight's game between Central and Logan.
They say the level of support they've seen from the
community is overwhelming.
It really helps us, like every day it's just putting
one foot in front of the other, and when you hear
one person say 'We're thinking about you, we're here
to support you,' it really helps us to put our feet
in front of eachother and be able to tackle this head
It was just, I was so happy, it was .
it was so many people, it was perfect.
If all goes well .
Drew's treatment should wrap up sometime this spring.
