Residents are getting their chance to help design
the 'gateway to La Crosse.'
A public meeting was held tonight at Northside Elementary
allowing members of the community to hear about the
city's plans to improve the Highway 53 corridor between
I-90 and the La Crosse River.
About 80 people packed the school's cafeteria to give
their input on different aspects of a potential plan
including transportation .
economic development .
and city identity.
We want experience that's great for the locals but
that also gives people just seeing La Crosse for the
first time or just entering La Crosse for the first
time a really good experience and a really good feeling
about the city.
City planners say they'll take the suggestions they
gathered tonight .
and research them before trying to add them to their
