La Crosse hosts state track and field
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Thousands of athletes and fans are descending on La Crosse this weekend for the annual WIAA Track and Field Championships at UW-La Crosse.
The 117th boys meet and 42nd girls meet are being held at the UW-L Veterans Memorial Stadium Complex Friday and Saturday.

Watch News 8 at 5:00 and 6:00 for reaction from fans and community members, and News 8 Sports at 6:00 and 10:00 for a recap of the day's events.
You can also follow Gregg Wavrunek and Kyle Deckelbaum on Twitter for updates from the meet.
With the large number of visitors in the city this weekend, drivers should be aware of traffic congestion in the UW-L.
La Crosse Street is typically backed up past Myrick Park and sometimes all the way to Losey Boulevard.
There is also usually congestion from West Avenue to the UW-L Recreational Eagle Center.
UW-L Police will be directing traffic at three different locations to try to keep vehicles moving, but they suggest using an alternate route.
