La Crosse School Board honors Boys & Girls Club partnership
A local organization is honored as a "champion for public education."
The Boys and Girls Club of Greater La Crosse was recognized at the city's school board meeting Monday night.
More than 7,000 students have been served in some way by the organization, many of those within the La Crosse School District.
The club's executive director attributes the success to the collaboration between the organization and the school district. "Instead of one group saying well we will serve them from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and another gorup comes in and says we'll serve them from 3-6 or 7, you have both groups coming together saying how can we best serve these kids?," said Mike Desmond.
The school district is honoring one of its partners, like the Boys and Girls Club, every month.
