La Crosse Public Library making adjustments for e-magazines

LA CROSSE, Wis. -

As magazines move into a digital age so too are some of our local libraries.

Newsweek announced recently that it's going to an electronic copy only. That's something the La Crosse Public Library wanted to keep available to visitors so they're starting a program to make tablets available at all branches.

Librarians are purchasing four nooks that will carry the magazine as well as a few e-books.

This way they can stay relevant and be ready when another publication also stops printing. "The big generalist magazines seem to be the ones that are suffering the most in the digital age, so I don't think News Week is going to be the last," said Digital Resources Librarian Noreen Fish.

It's costing the library about $3,000 to start this project.

Librarians are looking for public input for other magazines to subscribe to.
