its doors today..
Maid-Rite on Caledonia Street shut down after nearly
70 years of serving its famous sandwiches on the northside.
The original Maid-Rite location in La Crosse was opened
in 19-47 .
before being bought by its current owner in 19-88
and re-opening in 19-90.
The restaurant became a popular place for locals to
grab lunch .
and was known for its distinctive railroad themed
There are still several Maid-Rite locations open across
the Midwest .
but the La Crosse location was the last one in Wisconsin.
Large groups of people flocked to the restaurant tonight
after hearing the news.
