La Crosse City Council member resigns after 39 years

LA CROSSE, Wis. -

A surprise announcement at the end of Thursday night's city council meeting in La Crosse.

District 10 Council Member Doug Farmer announced he is resigning from his seat after 39 years on the council. He's stepping down effective Friday.

Farmer said he no longer lives in district 10 because of redistricting and his new district is already represented.

Farmer respectfully declined an interview after the meeting saying it was a difficult announcement to make to his colleagues.
