WINONA, Minn. -- The new leader of the Winona State University Athletic Department knows the area well.

Eric Schoh, a La Crescent native, was introduced Friday as the new Winona State athletic director. Schoh, 42, replaces Larry Holstad, who announced his retirement in September.

Schoh comes to Winona State from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, where he served as director of athletics since 2004.

While at Wayne State, Schoh oversaw the completion of a new baseball and softball complex, and upgrades to the school's football stadium, sports medicine facility, weight room.

Schoh earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Iowa State University, receiving a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communication and a master's degree in exercise and sport science.
