Iowa returns murder suspect to Minnesota
Iowa has sent back a 22-year-old man to Minnesota to face charges that he fatally stabbed his mother and one of his nephews.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that Ishmael Roberts was headed to Minneapolis on Thursday. Roberts has been charged with two counts of intentional second-degree murder. He's accused of killing 57-year-old Beatrice Wilson and her 14-year-old grandson, Peter, in Minneapolis early on Oct. 29.
Roberts had been held in Waterloo at Black Hawk County Jail since his arrest the night of Oct. 29 on various Iowa charges. Police say Roberts was taken into custody after he crashed his mother's car in Waterloo. Online court records say those charges have been dismissed in favor of the Minnesota case, but the Iowa charges could be reinstated later.
