Iowa mom arrested after toddler given alcohol
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -- An Iowa City woman has been arrested after police say her 22-month-old child was found to be legally drunk.
Twenty-six-year-old Natasha Kriener was charged last week with child endangerment resulting in bodily injury. The online court system shows the public defender's office is appointed to her case, but no attorney is listed. Kriener's preliminary hearing is Feb. 28 in Johnson County District Court.
Police records show the toddler's father took the child to the hospital last Wednesday. Doctors found the child had a blood-alcohol level of .09 percent, above the state's legal limit of .08 percent.
Police say Kriener is the primary caregiver for the child, and was in her care.
Kriener remained in the Johnson County jail on Monday on $20,000 bond.
