Iowa driver collides with Cedar Rapids police car

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) -

Investigators are trying to determine why an Iowa driver collided with a Cedar Rapids police cruiser.

Cedar Rapids police say the crash happened around 1:40 a.m. Sunday after the other driver crossed the centerline.

The westbound driver struck the marked police car.

Both drivers were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment before being released.

Police have not released the identity of the other driver.

Investigators are waiting for toxicology test results to determine if the driver was intoxicated before deciding what charges to pursue.
