DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- A panel of budget experts is adding $25 million to its projection of how much the state will collect in taxes this year.
The Revenue Estimating Conference also in increasing next year's projection by $41.7 million.
During its meeting Thursday, the panel agreed that Iowa's economy is slowly recovering from a deep recession.
Holly Lyons, a member of the conference from the Legislative Services Agency, says Iowa hasn't slid back into recession as may have happened in other states. She also says Iowa's unemployment rate remains low but that many jobs are low -paying.
