Iowa boy's murder trial to move to another county
A 14-year-old Osage boy charged with killing his mother will be tried in a different county.
His attorneys requested the change of venue, citing adverse pretrial publicity in northern Iowa's Mitchell County. Prosecutors didn't oppose the motion, and a judge granted it on Tuesday.
The new location for the trial hasn't been determined yet. The trial is scheduled to begin on April 30.
The boy has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and first-degree assault with the intent to commit sexual abuse.
Authorities say the boy was 13 when he allegedly shot his mother to death on March 24. The Associated Press generally doesn't name juveniles accused of crimes or their families.
