Holiday shoppers are being reminded to buy local this weekend. It's the third annual Small Business Saturday.

It's a nation-wide event to help celebrate and promote local businesses.

The executive director of Downtown Mainstreet says the many stores in downtown La Crosse always benefit from the event. Its also a good way to help our local economy. "Making the holiday season more than just about standing in a line for that 10 dollars off for the latest and greatest, but more about again just bringing your family, having a great time, bringing back downtown to maybe what it was a few decades ago when people did their christmas shopping or holiday shopping down here," said Tim Kabat.

He also says many stores downtown will be offering specials for the event.

The historic downtown trolley will be running as well. Rides will be free from 11 to 4 p.m.
