High court won't review Davenport strip club case
DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) -- The Iowa Supreme Court is letting stand a ruling that allows a Davenport strip club to open despite the objections of city officials.
The court announced Monday it won't review an Iowa Court of Appeals decision, which sided with Chorus Line in its dispute with Davenport.
Chorus Line applied for a license to reopen in 2009 under new ownership, but the city denied its request because the club is next to another business that is mainly a lingerie shop. A city ordinance prohibits two adult entertainment businesses from opening on the same lot.
But the court found that ordinance shouldn't prevent Chorus Line from operating. The lingerie business wasn't required to get an adult entertainment license and Chorus Line had already been promised it would be grandfathered under the ordinance.
