Low-income families in Wisconsin can get help paying for their home heating and energy costs through May 15.
Residents could be eligible for help if their household income is no more than 60 percent of the state median income for a household of their size. For a single person, the median income is about $24,000. For a family of four, the median income is about $46,000.
Households that qualify receive an average of $338 to help pay for heating and $174 for other electricity costs.
The assistance is based on households' size and income, as well as actual energy bills.
Residents can apply through their county social services offices, tribal governments and private non-profit agencies.
