Habitat for Humanity home turned over to family in Winona

WINONA, Minn. -

A Winona family is realizing the dream of owning their own home.

After 6 months of construction, Habitat for Humanity handed over the keys to the Yang Family to their brand new home.

It took about 4,000 hours of volunteer work to build the 3-bedroom, energy efficient house. It's estimated to be worth $155,000.

The Habitat Director for Minnesota says finding the right housing and getting everyone into their own place continues to be a challenge. "Our goal is to eliminate poverty housing from this state and we're not there yet, but we're working on it, one house at a time," said Jan Plimpton.

The 47th Habitat house between Winona and Fillmore counties is under construction right now.
