Wisconsin is headed for a recount of its presidential
Green Party candidate Jill Stein filed a request for
a recount with state election officials today.
just about an hour-and-a-half before the deadline.
Stein's campaign has been raising money online to
cover the costs of recounts in Wisconsin, Michigan
Wisconsin law calls for the state to perform a recount
at a candidate's request as long as he or she can
pay for it.
Green Party officials say even though there's no evidence
of any fraud.
they want to make sure hackers didn't skew the results
in those swing states.
There is no smoking gun.
There is not something that we're pointing to to say
that this is wrong in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
What we are saying is that there's enough peripheral
evidence to warrant that our system should be investigated.
Wisconsin G-O-P officials are calling the recount
saying it is quote 'nothing more than an expensive
political stunt that undermines the election process.'
The state has never performed a presidential recount.
Election officials estimate the effort will cost up
to one- million dollars.
