MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- State election officials have given the final go-ahead for a recall election against GOP state Sen. Sheila Harsdorf.

Republicans had challenged a number of issues with recall petitions against the River Falls lawmaker. But the state Government Accountability Board threw out most of those challenges Tuesday.

That clears the way for a recall election, pending any court challenge to the GAB's ruling.

If the GAB decisions stand, Harsdorf would be the fourth Republican state senator who would have to defend their seat anew.

Two other Republican senators and three Democratic senators are also being targeted for recalls.

The lawmakers came under fire because of their support for, or opposition to, Republican Gov. Scott Walker's legislation that cut collective bargaining rights for most public employees.
